About the Event

Working over ground poles has many benefits:

- improves the balance and gymnastic ability of both horse and rider,

- encourages the horse to engage the core, work over the back and use their limbs in a more correct way

- improves accuracy and rhythm

- recommended as a beneficial exercise by many equine physios and vets

Becky works with no more than four riders in each hour long group and uses a series of exercises to suit each individual horse and rider, giving new insights into their riding and plenty of ideas to take away and work on at home.

The Geometry of Dressage

A training guide to successfully riding simple school movements for dressage levels up to preliminary with accompanying diagrams draw to scale

Do you know where you're going?
Many riders struggle with their accuracy in dressage tests not because they can't steer their horse but because they don't fully understand the movement and the space it occupies within a given arena and they lose unnecessary marks due to poor visualisation and comprehension.
This book is a down to earth, easy to navigate guide to the school figures required in dressage up to and including preliminary level.

It covers
- What and where they are
- What to look out for when riding them
- Tips for improving your riding of them
- What judges look for

It begins by explaining the "scale of training", the progressive training system that has evolved as the basis of training and judging dressage but applies to training all horses and disciplines and forms an essential basis for the correct development of the horse physically and mentally.

Each subsequent part addresses a different movement and includes diagrams that are draw to scale in both a 20x40m and a 20x60m arena to assist the reader to visualise and ride it accurately.

Contents:

- An introduction to The Scales of Training
- Centre lines
- Corners and changing the rein
- Circles (20m, 15m and 10m)
- 1/2 circles and serpentines
- Loops

This book was written as a result of years of coaching riders who were unclear about the dressage movements, the dimensions of the arena and the requirements, the desire was to provide a resource that wasn't overwhelming and could help every rider regardless of level or ability.
